Channel 7 announces commentary team for 2020 AFL grand final featuring Michael Voss

A Brisbane Lions great has joined Channel 7's commentary team for the historic Gabba grand final.

Tom Hawkins to play AFL Grand Final

Brisbane Lions favourite son Michael Voss has joined the Channel 7 commentary team for Saturday night’s AFL grand final at the Gabba.

Richmond, gunning for a third premiership in four years, will take on Geelong in a historic match that will be the first decider outside Victoria and the first ever played at night.

A tantalising match-up between Brownlow medallists Dustin Martin and Patrick Dangerfield headlines the clash, while Gary Ablett’s stellar career will come to an end on the night.

Ablett, a two-time premiership player in his first stint with the Cats, will retire after living up to and exceeding the expectations set by his famous name.

Calling the final game of the season from the Gabba, broadcasting icon Bruce McAvaney and Coleman medallist Brian Taylor will be joined by a crew packed with experience.

Voss, who captained the Lions to four straight grand finals and lifted the premiership cup in 2001, 2002 and 2003, will offer unique insights as a Brisbane great and a current assistant coach with Port Adelaide.

Football greats Wayne Carey and Luke Hodge will link up with AFLW star Daisy Pearce to share their expertise, alongside retired champions Luke Darcy, Tim Watson, Jobe Watson, Simon Black and Leigh Matthews.

Rounding out the team are three men with plenty of love for the participating teams: Tigers great Matthew Richardson, and Cats premiership players Jimmy Bartel and Cameron Ling.

Hamish McLachlan, James Brayshaw, Jacqui Felgate and Abbey Holmes will also feature throughout the day and into the night.

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan, Leigh Matthews, Eddie Betts, brothers Saverio and Anthony Rocca will join the show alongside Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Andy Lee.

On Friday night Brownlow medallist Adam Cooney will join Cam Luke on The Armchair Experts to preview the grand final, before the AFL finals marathon leads footy fans through the last night.
